You don’t have to hit every pothole
We live in a world that was built on mistakes. Everything man made around you is the sum total of the collective trial and error of the human race. All of our conveniences, from electric lights, to telephones, to the food we eat are the products of our learning from other people’s mistakes. Think for a minute about how your life would be if you could never benefit from someone else’s trial and error. We would have never advanced beyond the Stone Age. Fortunately, we’ve been able to assimilate the mistakes of others and build on them. From time to time, however, we all tend to duplicate mistakes that others have made.
To the extent you can avoid repeating mistakes that others have already made, you can improve your life dramatically, and save yourself lots of grief.
