Internet Friendlier Bible
Wouldn’t it be great if every time you saw a scripture reference on a webpage or other online document, you could simply hover your mouse
over the reference and have that scripture pop up in a tip window?
Well, according to my good friend Dean Peters, that’s just one of many possibilities that are now available to web
theologians through a new service being offered by the English Standard
Bible online. Now, any webmaster can, with a little snippet of code,
program his website to automatically turn any scripture reference into a
link to that verse at the ESV website, or cause a small pop-up with
the text
of the verse to emerge when the user’s mouse hovers over the scripture
reference.
This new web service opens up an entire realm of new possibilities for web
designers, limited only by their imagination and creativity. What this
means for web users is a much more user friendly experience when reading
devotional literature online.
