A Big Test
When you want to know if something on your website is going to work, you test it. That’s what I’m doing here, testing a new copy of Word 2007, which has an embedded blogging capability. If it works, great. If not, I’ll know to use something else.
Never one to pass up the opportunity to draw a spiritual parallel, let me add that faith is just like that. It has to be tested for you to know whether it’s worth anything. And kinda like a blog, the more you put into it, the more it is worth!
edited to add: Hey, it works!

I get this question a lot. Most of the time, it’s from very well-meaning, patriotic Americans who want to know that we’re doing the right thing, but are having a hard time believing it when they watch the news. I get questions like:
“What are our boys doing in Iraq, besides getting killed?”
“How can they tell who the bad guys are?”
“How can they fight the insurgents without killing innocent people?”
To ask those kinds of questions, I think, is a good thing. We should want to know if our boys’ blood is being shed for a good cause.

At first I was sort of taken aback. Here’s a pastor inviting me to go watch men do tremendous physical violence to each other for sport. I’ve never really gone in much for that kind of thing. I’ve never enjoyed watching people argue, much less duke it out with their fists. I like to see people get along, you know?
But I went anyway, especially because the pastor mentioned that his own son would be participating in the contest. I was even more shocked – bordering on appalled.
