Veterans Day Video
This piece aired on Veteran’s day on the 700 club. It’s my way of honoring the service and sacrifice of our heroes – telling their stories to the world. This is the story of the Medevac unit of Task Force Shadow – an aviation unit that is part of the 101st airborne, stationed at Bagram airfield.

We’ve known for years that male teachers are essential for boys to grow up into men. Boys will get their picture of manhood somewhere – and if they don’t have good men to look up to, then they’ll find their definition of manhood in the media – God forbid. And if the only teachers our boys have are women – we shouldn’t be surprised if they are raised to be good little girls.
Read this article. I find it interesting, in that it points out that boys learn to read better when taught by a man. Hmmm….maybe we should look at our homeschooling methods in this area, too.

Citizen Soldier – 3 Doors Down
I took the kids to a movie last night, and one of the previews was this music video recruiting for the National Guard. I thought it was fantastic – the production values are great in the video, but more than that, the words of the song embody the reasons I joined the military at seventeen. I wanted to be there – for my country, for my brothers-in-arms, and in a way, for myself.
I think all men find purpose in “being there” for others. In fact, I think this is what James referred to as “Pure and faultless” religion.
I’m making it my goal to look after more “widows and orphans” in the next year. I need to be more personally charitable, and to make sure my kids know what’s going on. Sure, we already give to a variety of causes and ministries, but If the goal is to make true followers of Christ out of my children, they need to see more of that. They need to learn, from me, the great joy in “being there” for others.

Wow, I just realized it’s been a month since I posted here. Sorry about that. I’ve been busy, and as usual, in some very remote places.
In late October I made a quick trip out to Los Angeles, California, to interview Bob Hamer, a former FBI agent who just published a book about his amazing undercover experiences. Bob helped bust a large counterfeiting ring that we’ll be making a news feature about soon.
Nathan got to accompany me on that trip, and we took an extra couple of days to head to Las Vegas and visit my grandparents. Most people would consider themselves lucky to still have both sets of grandparents around by the time they hit 20 years old – how blessed am I to have both sets at nearly 40!
For the past two weeks I’ve been in Panama reporting for CBN on the rising drug problems that country is facing as Colombian drug dealers are moving into Panama to escape the crackdown in their own country. We got a chance to spend a couple of days with the Kuna indians on the San Blas island of Ustupu – an amazing place. The Kuna are incredibly friendly and gentle people – and their kids are the cutest! Connie accompanied me on this trip, and it was nice to have her along. While we were there, CBN aired my piece on the medevac mission in Afghanistan where 1lt Donny Carwile was killed.
In addition to all this, I also managed to release my novel “Island Inferno” in Dutch. Vuur Eiland, yeah.
Anyway, I’ll try to do a better job of keeping up this blog, but if you wonder where I am, you can always check out my SPOT page.
